Project 01.
Departures
‍

An illustrated poetry series, created in January 2021.
‍

‍
I approached 4 writers that I met at the start of my 'artistic' journey as an internet-based artist, 'Kamaeri'. I invited these writers from and beyond Australia, to write poetry based on the prompt, 'departures'. I created an illustration or graphic-designed image in response to their words. This project allowed me to explore the relationship between visual art and creative writing.

‍In a world where people constantly come and go, how is one supposed to live after such life-changing departures?
Can one ever truly be ready to embrace encounters that can happen at any given moment?

‍
These pieces were originally posted on my Instagram account; They alternate between pieces created in collaboration and on my own.
Let this project be remembered as a series of artworks between indie creatives that started and still remains within virtual space.

A semi-realistic illustration of a glass of chamomile tea. The chamomile flowers are reflected in the edges and handle of the glass cup it is in. The glass of tea is on a table with some clouds reflected on it. Poetry lines are on the top of the image, "It's summer around here/ but my heart's in winter."
Entry 04. 'Seasonal'
A graphic designed image of the spilling of an unknown blue-coloured ink onto a plain beige-pink-coloured background. There are lines of poetry in the bottom left corner: "The deluge overnight/ Whilst you were asleep/ Has lulled you underwater."
Entry 05. 'The Deluge'
An illustration of a blood-stained sparrow mid-flying in the air, against a faint red background. Light is coming from the top right corner.
Entry 07. 'The Sparrow and The Hare', written
by Jesse Pridham
An illustration of a clock face, in an abstract and impressionistic art style. Mostly faded in colour with some brushstrokes of vibrant colours peeking through. There are words in the centre-right that reads, "that summer day".

An illustration of a sky, with chairs sitting among a cloud and the tail and engine of a plane. The plane is a gold/bronze colour, with the cloud coloured with the first light of day.
